We are aware that a number of emails are being received by people supposedly from a spurious email address that uses @scammellregister.co.uk. Please note that these people are nothing to do with the Scammell Register and these emails have NOT arisen from anyone here. The issue is being dealt with by our web host.
Scammell, as with any famous marque in road transport history, has a dedicated following of enthusiasts, many of whom have restored and drive Scammell lorries. The Scammell Register is the organisation for anyone who owns, or has an interest in, this famous marque.
Having evolved from an idea that the founder, Bill Bromidge, had at the Great Dorset Steam Fair way back in 1983, The Scammell Register has a long and interesting history.
Although the Scammell works closed in 1988, the Register continues to go from strength to strength adopting the by-line
Today, we have over 350 Members including owners, ex-employees, ex-drivers, model makers and many who just love this classic British lorry.
Members benefit from a quarterly Newsletter with a range of articles and news items, regular meetings, the opportunity to share your interest with like-minded individuals and, for vehicle owners, free assistance with DVLA enquiries and vehicle registration and reduced price paper or disk copies of manuals.
The Register display lorry, with its photographic display and Scammell merchandising for sale, is in regular attendance at rallies and other events throughout the year, along with Members' lorries. We also sell a variety of Scammell merchandising though our shop.
Reports and photos of a number of rallies, and other items of interest can be found in the reports page.
We always welcome new members, whatever your interest in Scammell.

The history of Scammell Lorries Limited begins in 1922, with the move from Fashion Street to Tolpits Lane in Watford, where, in the mid 1920s, this Shell Six Wheeler is pictured.
In 2007, eighty five years later, ten Scammell Register Members and their lorries returned to Watford and Tolpits Lane, the site of the Scammell works, to ensure the legend which is Scammell lives on.
In 2008, to commemorate the passing of 20 years since the closure of the works and to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Scammell Register, eleven Members and their lorries repeated the run to Tolpits Lane. Some are pictured below, alongside the blue railings - all that remains of the Scammell works.
2008 was a big year for the Register, as we celebrated our 25th Anniversary. We held a number of celebratory events during the year, the main one being at the Great Dorset Steam Fair. Footage of this event is included in the new DVD "Twenty Years on - The Scammells at Dorset."
We would appreciate any comments on, or suggestions, or photos for the website.
